Nature's Gifts

A delightful morning it was. It was sunny and not very cold. I awoke to the sound of my favorite bird, the Mourning Dove. It had been some time since I heard one. What a wonderful way to be greeted at the start of your day. Where the sounds of nature call on you to arise. After breakfast, I went out back into my garden, as I routinely do, to water and take care of any matters that demand my attention. I then saw three beautiful blue morning glories welcoming me to my garden. This being my favorite flower added to my already pleasing day. Their blue hue is likely to attract the attention of any wanderer and seeker of nature’s beauty. Waking up to the call of the Mourning Dove was not melancholy, as the word mourning typically suggests, but rather the opposite, as the opposite is always the case for me. And being greeted in my garden by the blue morning glories made me all the more aware of my great fortune to have had such a morning.

“Every morning was a cheerful invitation to make my life of equal simplicity, and I may say innocence, with Nature herself.” - Thoreau (Walden)
